MAX Milan and Interesting Article in The Register

I'm heading off to MAX Milan today where I'll be delivering the keynote on Monday. I'll be covering pretty much the same ground as Kevin Lynch did when he did it in San Francisco, though we have a couple of new things that we'll be showing, as well.

I'll also be doing a bunch of press interviews. Last year at MAX in Barcelona I met with a variety of journalists including Tim Anderson of The Register, who I'm meeting with again this year. Tim just posted an interesting article on how Scott Guthrie and I showed AJAX support in ASP.NET as far back as 2000, which we called "incremental page refresh" at the time, but that it didn't actually get released until 2006! Actually, I think our earliest prototypes of ASP.NET (then called XSP) had AJAX support in it, so that would put it around 1998. It's an interesting article and I'm looking forward to talking with Tim again next week!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Milan, and please say hi if you're there. I'll be around all week!

Thermo (Flash Catalyst) Unleased at MAX!

One of the big pieces of news coming out of MAX is that we've released a preview version (pre-Beta) of Flash Catalyst, which is the official name of the product previously code-named "Thermo". While it's going to be featured in tomorrow's Day 2 General Session, there is also a session this afternoon that starts in 5 minutes where Ryan Stewart will be presenting it in depth.

We will also be giving away copies of the preview version to MAX attendees. I was lucky enough to steal a copy BEFORE the session, while Steven Heintz wasn't looking, and so here's the first peak as to what it looks like!

Enjoy!
